A Couple Fritillaries

A Variegated Fritillary (Euptoieta claudia) enjoying the nectar of a Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea).

And another Fritillary, a Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) on another Purple Coneflower.

The common name, Fritillary, comes from the Latin, fritillus: chessboard or dice box.
