A Pollinator

I’ve got a few species of mint plants growing on my back hill. One of them, Apple Mint (Mentha suaveolens), has an extended bloom period and attracts many interesting pollinators. One of them is this Double-banded Scoliid Wasp (Scolia bicincta) with its beautiful metalic blue wings. These wasps usually have two white bands, but there are some that have three or even four bands. I wonder, is this just to confuse us?

I enjoy your blog so very much.
I was with dear sister Sandy and Bob Miller last weekend for a family wedding in Doylestown, PA. So much fun… so grateful for my sisters and brother♥️
    Cheers to you and yours,

    • Hahaha! Yes Joanne, those extra white bands are probably just to confuse us!
So very glad to hear that you enjoy reading my posts. I enjoy putting them together, and sometimes, like last night, my internet goes down and I don’t realize it till the following night (tonight). Sorry that my post didn’t go through.
I’m delighted to hear that you got together with Sandy and Bob. And in Doylestown, WOW. I’ve got so many many cousins up there in Montgomery and Bucks County.
Always delighted to hear from you! I sure miss seeing Sandy.

    • Hi Ken! So glad you like the picture. When my son was young, just learning photography, I told him to take BUNCHES of pictures and surely one will be good! So yes, I take many many pictures. 🙂
