It is Saturday evening as I sit here typing this. You might recall on Thursday I posted a blog about my Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta) which had been painted by Mother Nature with a thick, beautiful, coating of silvery ice.
Early Thursday morning that ice event caused many many trees to come down blocking the road down the mountain. It also caused oodles of trees to come down on power lines. There has been no power here at the cabin since then, until just a few minutes ago. The generator which had been chugging loudly since then turned itself off. The welcome silence that occurred, said to me, “You have power again!”
During the time with no power the generator kept most things going but not the heat pump and not the washer and dryer. Thank goodness for the woodstove. Those lovely flames you see through the door kept the cabin warm all that time.
Hooray for power again!

Oh goodness, Brenda! I had no idea the outage lasted so long I’m so glad you have power back! And I’m glad you have a woodstove. I’ve lived in two places where those were our backup!
Here’s hoping the weather forecasted for this week won’t repeat this scenario!
Hi Grace!
Yes one of a very few LONG power outages that we are able remember. Certainly the longest here on the mountain. And for the forecast for next week, I’m hoping for just normal and beautiful snow!!
Thank goodness for the generator – no worries about things in the refrigerator or the freezer.
Grace, thanks bunches for reading my posts.

So glad you were safe throughout. Welcome back to the Grid!
Hi Anita!
So very nice to be back to normal. We’re getting ready for snow tomorrow. Who knows what will happen with that event. We’re as ready as can be! Hahahaha! I LOVE winter! You take care!
Thanks so much for reading my posts!
