Barred Owl (Strix varia).
Yesterday afternoon as I wandered out into the vegetable garden, I heard a great cacophony of bird calls. Much more than what I usually hear. Within seconds a Barred Owl flew out from its ill chosen perch and settled onto a branch across the way. Things settled down immediately.
I went right away to get my camera with its long lens, and tripod. The owl tolerated 4 images captured by the camera and as I inched closer it flew away.
Quite happy it stopped by for a moment though the other birds would not agree with my glee.

Oh yipppeee, Tendril is back two days in a row. Thank you so much. It is so brutally hot and muggy out, I am staying in most of the time. Maybe it’s little cooler up at your cabin, hope so. Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Stay cool and well.
Love, M
Dear Maude,
So very glad you’re getting Tendrils now, as you should be getting it. I’m sorry you were having troubles. I didn’t make any changes though. Wonder what could have happened.
Mighty HUMID up here which makes it feel terribly uncomfortable.
We were hearing many fireworks a bit ago. Much celebrating!
Thanks bunches for reading my posts!

Wonderful picture, Brendita! I hear some barred owls south of Milam Gap that others have spotted but I have never seen them there–yet.
