Confusing Bumblebee (Bombus perplexus), a species of Bumblebee that is native to northern North America, where it can be found in Canada and the eastern United States.
Confusing Bumblebees live in colonies made up of one queen and the female workers. New, mated queens, overwinter in a state of dormancy emerging in the spring. The queen is responsible for finding a nest site where she lays her eggs.
Now that I’ve become familiar with this species of Bumblebee, I am noticing more and more of them. They continue to amaze me with their beautiful yellow color.

I always wondered what species this bee was when I saw it visiting flowers! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi Brigitte!
These bees make me think of a little “stuffed animal” bee. And yet I have a set of three “stuffed animal” bees and they don’t look at all like these bees! I got them, because my little granddaughter is totally frightened by bees. I was hoping that with she and I, playing with them, I could help her overcome her fear. Haha! She had no interest in playing with them. Oh well. BUT I’m so very glad that I’ve helped YOU solve a mystery! Such a complicated world, nature can be!
So very glad that you are reading my posts! Hoping you are enjoying your summer.

What a nice comparison of these bees to stuffed animal bees! They are a very cute and “fluffy” looking species. I think your stuffed animal bees sound great and like lots of fun!
