Looking much like the Northrop B-2 Spirit, Stealth Bomber. But don’t get confused, it’s a moth. A Dark-spotted Palthis (Palthis angulalis). The caterpillar of this Palthis eats leaves (living or dead) of shrubs and trees, including Alder, Ash, Basswood, Birch, Pine, Spruce, Willow; and of forbs including Aster and Goldenrod. I love that they eat dead leaves. Much appreciated. And they’re found Newfoundland west to coastal British Columbia, south to Florida and Texas.

Thank you Brenda: e Expanding our knowledge both visual and textual of our Mothra friends is a good thing. These oft overlooked beauties offer many hours of observational and photographic fun.
Hi Ken! I love sharing the world of nature both through my photos and what I can glean from my personal library and the vast Internet. Whether Butterflies or Moths I can only hope that I am giving them each reasonable exposure and praise.
Thanks bunches for reading my posts!
