I caught the action today as mom and dad Carolina Wrens (Thryothorus ludovicianus) were occupied feeding the little ones. Going out and coming back with butterfly and moth larvae, insects, snails, spiders, berries and seeds.
Carrying a medium sized spider, going in for the nestlings.
And now, off in search of more.

I love Carolina Wrens. Such a powerful voice. We had a pair nest last year in my hanging flower pot. Much to our surprise, a fledgling cowbird was one of the young! It was quite funny watching them feed the young cowbird as well as two of their own.
Hi Diane!
Wow! That must have been quite the challenge for the C. Wrens to take care of a (giant!) Cowbird, along with their 2 little ones! As you might imagine, in this little star shaped bird house, people like me are unable to watch what is going on in the bird house! I don’t even get to watch in the basket that is hanging on the ceiling at the back porch! It is too high. Oh well! Fun to have them here.
Thanks bunches for reading my posts <3
