Hoary Mountain Mint

Hoary Mountain Mint (Pycnanthemum incanum) are blooming up here in the mountains and will continue into early autumn. It has a soft look. That word “hoary” speaks to its silvery look.

The blooms, creamy white to lavender with lavender spots. The mint scented leaves cry out to be made into a tea.

The plants grow to be 24 to 36 inches tall. They’re native to eastern North America. A treat to find while I’m out roaming.

  1. Brenda! I have a friend in NH that is a naturalist also. I’d like to hook her up with your website. So if you see her name, Jane LaBree…. Thanks. Bonnie

    • Oh Bonnie! I’m delighted to hear that you’ve passed word along, to your naturalist friend in New Hampshire, of my blog. OMG, she lives in such a beautiful state! I’ll be looking forward to seeing the name, Jane LaBree!

Wondering if you are here in Virginia too. It’s a wonderful state too, but goodness there are so many great states to visit! Right now I’d be happy to be somewhere where the humidity is a bit lower! How ’bout you? My husband is from New Mexico. The mountains of NM might be the perfect place right now.

Thanks bunches for reading my posts, and for sharing my posts with your friend!
