Lovely Scene To Wake Up To

February 6, 2025

It was forecasted and it sure did happen. A totally gorgeous sight to wake up to. That is, wake up to after the transformer just a couple hundred feet away blew up. Thank goodness for the generator which came on right after the power went out. Oh but what a delightful sight. Mother Nature had painted absolutely everything with a thick layer of ice.

This, one of her subjects. Black-eyed Susans, not to be confused with other Black-eyed Susans. **These are special** The state flower of Maryland. Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta).

    • Hi Grace,

Thank goodness there was no damage. As I type this there is a team of Rappahannock folks out working on the situation. This all started because of the ice that happened on Thursday morning, 7 in the morning to be exact. The power went out and I assumed it was only a transformer problem. The team has discovered that there are lots of trees down on the lines further up the mountain too. Our road was totally blocked with downed trees too. VDOT got that cleared Friday so we could get down the mountain.

And now PRESTO!! The generator turned itself off and we have POWER!! HOORAY!!

Grace, thank you so much for reading my posts!
