This morning finds me at the yoga studio early. Frost covering much of the world down here in the lowlands. I take the opportunity to capture the beautiful dusting on Purple Dead-nettle (Lamium purpureum).
A photo from another day, you can see how it becomes a ground cover.
Though a native to Europe and Asia it can be found covering whole fields, creating a purple sea here in Virginia right about now.

My goodness what a site to see the fields in purple! Must be AWEsome. Is deadnettle good for anything? Was just having a conversation with someone about Stinging Nettle and using it for tea for one.
Lovely! A feast for the bees, I’m sure.
It is most prolific in my gardens.
I remember I used to tell people I don’t think I’ve ever seen any kind of nettle (knowing that some are host plants for butterflies). Meanwhile beds of lamium were continuing to spread in my garden. The bees loved it. I could always spot a bee in it. It was a prolific bloomer. Look how beautiful it is under that frost! Very nice Brenda!
I have to say, i struggle with this plant as it infiltrates every part of my garden. In the field I like it , but it chokes out anything I try to grow. Perhaps I need to stop trying to grow other things and develop a new relationship with it. Thanks for letting me see it from your eyes!
