Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). Gone are the summer days when I’d put out a half gallon of hummingbird syrup every single day. “My” many hummers are long gone but the little birds that summered further north are still coming through. Each traveling alone. That concept boggles my mind. Even the youngest, that just fledged this summer already magically know where they are going. WOW!

I still see them also and I think a couple have been with me for the last 5 seasons. I keep my feeders up for the rest of the month.
Oh Barry! How wonderful that you think a couple of your hummingbirds keep coming back, year after year! Marvelous! I read that, that might be possible but I have no idea how to tell if that IS happening.
My Mom recently passed away in Louisiana. I had called her everyday for many many years and always got her to laugh as we chatted. Just last week I amused her, telling her that I think hummingbirds need to wear t-shirts with their names on those t-shirts. That really amused her. If you think of a way to get those little birds to wear those t-shirts, please let me know! 🙂
Barry, thanks so much for reading my posts!
