Turning from soft green, its fragrant leaves become multiple shades, perfect for the autumn season.
Sassafras, aside from its delightful aroma, has a vast repertoire of colors it shows off as October crawls to the haunting day of Halloween. Warm delightful colors. Many shades of yellow, orange, red and purple to help fight off the chilly days.

Hi Joanne! You must have some large Sassafras Trees? Funny thing, I was aware of Sassafras when I was growing up, but I had no idea that they grew into large trees. I was only familiar with the very young trees. Ignorance is bliss, perhaps! It wasn’t until we moved here to the mountains and became more familiar with tree in general that I first saw and appreciated BIG, OLD Sassafras Trees. So many things are wonderful about them – their color in autumn, and their scent are two of those things. I think this might be the tree I’d choose to come back as, if such a thing were possible!
