This was just the beginning. My very VERY favorite winter of all time. This image is from December 5, 2009, and like I said, it was just the beginning. From just the beginning of meteorological winter, not even the beginning of astronomical winter, to the end of winter, that winter of 2009 – 2010, 72 inches of snow fell upon my cabin in the mountains.
During that winter and those snow events VDOT took excellent care of us, though they certainly had their challenges. This is how our road looked – often.
72 inches of snow in one winter — pure joy!

Wow, look at Snow Mountain Road!
I can’t even imagine.
I remember that winter, even here in Central VA the snow stayed around for so long. It started to make me feel claustrophobic even though I was outside every day
It sure was pretty though.
Hi Anna!
I thought of you as I posted that photo! What an incredible winter it was. Our son and his new wife “planned” to get stuck with us for several weekends. It was wonderful!
Thanks bunches for reading my posts!

It was a winter to celebrate, for sure!
Hi Mary!
After that winter, Bill went out and bought a great big tractor as a spell against snow. AND unfortunately it has worked! Hahaha!
Thanks for reading my posts!
