Just a couple days after the grass was cut. Two tiny bunnies were found hiding in that short grass. Warming themselves in the sun and hiding from predators. How they were found, I don’t know. Perhaps the magic of the Woodland Fairy. They were quite invisible to ordinary searching eyes such as mine. But Granddaughter found the bunnies and she came to let me know of her happy discovery.
She proudly but very quietly showed me where they were. Though I didn’t want to disturb either one, I wanted to get a better view, moving blades of grass. The teeny critters took the stance of, “You can’t see me, because I’m perfectly still!” When I started taking pictures she put her hand down and said, “My hand for scale!” An excellent assistant.
Baby Eastern Cottontail Rabbits will leave their nest to be totally independent when they are between 3 and 5 weeks of age. The size, like this one, not much bigger than a Chipmunk. The smallest rabbits I’ve ever seen. Absolutely precious.

I treasure your posts and read them always. So glad you are able to have visits from your granddaughter and that you both share this love of nature. What a gift! Mark and I are now in an Independent Living facility up in Spfld., MO. I had to move here after getting a virus in my heart that caused major health problems. Good news is that I am improving. Sad news is that I now have a pace maker in my chest and no where the stamina I once had. I miss our home, but have not totally given up on things. We had to move in such a hurry that our house is still full of our belongings, many of which I miss. Two hours drive away from here….but have only returned once. Where we live we get room and food and that’s about it, but it’s close to large medical facilities…..Mercy Hospital and affiliates are nearby. Later…..sending you my best wishes that you can continue to live on your mountain!
Oh Judy!
I’m so very sorry to hear of your journey after having such a huge health event. What a change you have had to make. I cannot imagine having to leave so quickly leaving so many things behind. It is so good though to hear that you are improving and have a pace maker that will help you through your recovery.
I AM very fortunate to get to see little Lydia so often. They live in Arlington right now, which is just 2 hours away. Currently they are looking for a house that will be further south of us, and just 1 hour away. They are certainly having a hard time though, because there are so few houses up for sale.
I appreciate so very much hearing that you are enjoying my posts. Believe me, I thoroughly love doing the posts each day. It is great fun to share the world of nature with everyone. Though I must admit there are some times when I slip up and post something about baking a pie, or what’s going on with Lydia!
Thank you so very much for reading my posts. And please continue your voyage to getting well again.
Sending much love
