Wild Strawberries Soon

Wild Strawberries (Fragaria virginiana) blooming all over today. Beautiful flowers with five, snow white petals, and bright yellow, pollen laden anthers.

Soon to become strawberries with a most remarkable flavor. The size of the fruit though, at just half an inch wide and half an inch long, makes harvesting for anything serious, to be much too labor intensive. Makes me think of sipping the delicious nectar from a Japanese Honeysuckle flower. One is just enough.

  1. Your wild strawberry picture brings back memories of collecting them in the mountains while on hikes. Made the joy of hiking even better. Thanks for the memories.

  2. Hi Tom!

So glad to hear that my post brought back pleasant memories. I’m very glad that you didn’t have to depend on those strawberries for sustenance, given their tiny size! Though they surely are delicious.

All my best to you and Pam out there in the Land of Enchantment, and thanks bunches for reading my posts.
